Camel Trek in the SaharaDay 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Errachidia – Erfoud  Camel ride & overnight in the desert

Your English-speaking driver will pick you up from your hotel in Fez to start your desert trip.

You’ll discover verdant forests and rugged rock formations, and vibrant Berber villages with terraced farms.  Descending down the mountains en route to the Sahara Desert, you’ll stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its fossils and rocks, and through Errachidia to Erfoud, where your Jeep will transport you to the sugar fine sands of the  Sahara. Climb aboard your camel for a 1hour and half trek out to the oasis where you will spend the night in Berber tents with a private bathroom.

Day 2: Todra Gorges / Dades / Ouarzazate / Ait Benhaddou / Rose Valley / Ouarzazate

kasbah-copy-150x128After breakfast, you will return by camel to the Jeeps for the trip back to Erfoud where you will travel behind the High Atlas Mountains to Oaurazazate. Upon arrival at the Dades Gorges, explore the exquisite scenery and meet the nomadic Berbers.

From Dades, you’ll travel to Ouarzazate, known as the “Road of 1,000 Kasbahs” and the film site for many Hollywood movies, including Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and The Gladiator. Visit a kasbah, and spend the night in accommodations overlooking the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou and enjoy life off the beaten path.

Day 3: Ouarzazate – Ourika Valley (High Atlas Mountains)

Berbers in the High Atlas MountainsMorning drive for a special visit to the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou. After lunch, continue your adventure along the majestic beauty of the High Atlas Mountains, through the scenic route of Tizi n’Tichka’s lush oasis valleys and mountainous areas highly popular with trekkers. You’ll stop for a break at one of the Berber villages on your way to Ourika / High Atlas Montains past a pageantry of fragrant, dense pine and cedar forests, terraced farms and sienna mud-brick Berber villages to visit the Berber village of Anrar.

Afternoon to enjoy a private visit at a Berber family home, where you’ll experience the ritual pouring of mint tea. And then it’s on to the lovely garden of the valley near the souk Lathinie.

You will make a visit to one of the Jewish shrine of the high atlas mountains, and you will meet with the last Berber at the Ourika valley.

Discover the hidden Berber villages of the valley and explore the Berber village of Anrar and the others near by.
